Machine Tape FAQs

The primary difference is how the adhesives bond and the conditions they tolerate. Hot melt adhesive (synthetic rubber) is designed for speed. It provides extreme initial tack to grab cartons instantly on fast-moving automated lines. Conversely, water-based acrylic adhesive offers excellent long-term clarity and UV resistance (it won't yellow). It is also highly versatile, performing reliably in wider temperature extremes, making it a great choice for refrigeration and cold storage.

For the most challenging scenarios, rubber solvent adhesive is the superior option. This aggressive adhesive penetrates fibrous or highly recycled cardboard boxes that standard tapes often fail to grip. It also offers the ultimate performance for deep freeze applications, maintaining a powerful bond in sub-zero temperatures where other adhesives might fail.

Our standard range consists of clear tape, preferable as it doesn't obscure print or barcodes on the box. If you require specific colours for identification purposes, please contact us to discuss custom options.

Most plastic packing tapes are made from Polypropylene (PP) with an adhesive layer. While the tape itself is technically plastic, in the standard cardboard recycling process, the tape is typically filtered out during the pulping stage (the filter process).
